YS Masterpieces

YS Masterpieces, was established in 2000 following extensive research into the new, at the time, production method using RTV rubber and resins. I have always enjoyed designing a model from scratch more than assembling the parts from a box. This is why one will find a number of models on my shelves, improved by myself without the use of aftermarket detail sets. I have built a variety of models in various genres of the hobby, such as aircraft, cars, figures, tanks, etc.
The big turn towards model ships though, I owe to Mike Ashey whose book "Building and Detailing Scale Model Ships" I studied in 1996 during my first visit to England for the I.P.M.S. UK Competition. I am very much attracted to modelling ships from the early 1900 era, because of their peculiar shapes and complicated superstructures. I consider 1/350 and 1/700 scales the most ideal ones for model ship collections. These two clues indicate the kind of models you will find in my catalogue, but, considering that I mainly build whatever appeals to me the most, it is possible that you will also find models of ships from other periods and in other scales.
For the production of a model from YS Masterpieces, I follow the rule that the kit should be as perfect as possible, as if I were the first to buy it. The study of the drawings and photographs of a ship is a lengthy procedure for me but is the only way to achieve the best and most accurate reproduction. I design photo etched parts especially for each ship, which I use on the master-patterns regardless of the final sheet that includes the parts for completing the kit. I adore detailed assembly instructions and this has been greatly appreciated by all those who have purchased YS Masterpieces kits, all of which are distinguished for their high quality and authenticity as well as for their good value after purchase.
